| TitusNites - Downtown Titusville |
Even though it's a few hundred mile round-trip for the Old Guys, it's always worth the ride to attend the First-Saturday-Of-Every-Other-Month downtown Titusville cruise in!
At about 3:00 in the afternoon, the downtown streets are closed, then re-opened to classics, antiques, muscle cars, pro street's, and specialty vehicles, and they're ALL nice cars!
The shops and restaurants and shops stay open late, and that's part of the reason the show attracts as many cars as it does. That, and that the local businesses offer eight $50 cash prize drawings at the end of the evening!
The Old Guys arrived in Titusville just after noon, and as we always do, made a stop at the local BBQ joint.
This time it was Louie's BBQ Shack, located on US 1 in Mims, just north of Titusville. The BBQ was very good, and we've added it to our 'We Rate The 'Que' page.
We had plenty of time to check into our Titusville hotel, then take the fifteen-minute scenic drive to downtown.
We were there early enough to stake out some good parking, and were joined by Rob and Dawn, Swami and Biscuit, and the other Packard Bill, who brought his newly-painted Olds.
The first hour was spent handing out about 300 WinterFest flyers, the second hour-plus was for looking at a few hundred cars we don't often (if ever) get to see, and then it was time for more important things...the girls go shopping, and the guys sit around telling stories, most of which we've heard a dozen times before! And we were so busy talkin' that I never even took the camera out of the car, so there's no pictures for our album.
As the sun set, the temp quickly dropped, and it quickly became jacket weather. Some of the group opted for dinner, but the Old Guys called it a night, and headed for the hotel.
We had dinner, then spent the rest of the evening...until I fell asleep...watching the wild card football game.
First thing in the morning, as we always do, it was breakfast at Carcker Barrel, then as Packard Bill headed for the Bushnell Swap Meet, Sonny headed north while I went south. And when I stopped for fuel, it was a pleasure to spend $35 to fill the tank, and not the $80 I spend just six months ago!
It was a typical Old Guys laid-back, non-eventful weekend, but we're planning to turn it up a notch this coming weekend at Silver Springs! |
