| Wednesday - Lexington, NC |
Three Cougars and a truck...still! Promptly at 6:30 this morning, we headed north...sorta...with Sonny taking the point. He zipped us through Jax in record time!
Breakfast was at a Cracker Barrel somewhere well into Georgia, and with plenty of time, when we got into Charlotte, we made a stop at Holman Moody.
If you've never been, you've gotta go...there's a lot of history there, and some VERY COOL cars, and the photos will be posted in the album sometime next week.
After an hour or so, we continued north, and about 4:00, we arrived at the hotel. A quick clean-up, and it was off to Lexington BBQ.
We've been told it's the Number One-rated BBQ in the country. In our opinion, not quite. It's not the typical Southern BBQ. This is NC style, and the sauce is vinegar-based. The beans were good, but comparing the meat to some of the others we've tasted is like comparing apples to oranges. So we're not going ot rate them. Bottom line...Interstate, you've got NOTHING to worry about!
Right now, it's cocktail hour. The hotel offers complimentary cocktails in the evening, which is fine with the Old Guys, especially since we don't have to launch outa here very early tomorrow morning! |
