| Savannah - Saturday Show and More |
About 8:30, we drove onto the show field. Old Guy "I know exactly where it is" Sonny, who was leading us there, drove right past it the first time.
We were pre-registered, so the actual registration process was quick. We got goody bags, which actually had some usable stuf in them, including T-shirts!
It was great seeing cars we'd never seen before, and we made lots of new friends, some of whom will be traveling south to River Ranch next year!
I was one of the first door prize winners, and my door prize was a four-foot workbench, with a pegboard back, and a soffit light...probably worth a couple hundred dollars!
I've got no where at home to put it, so I gave it to Packard Bill, and in return, I'd get whatever it was that he won. After a few more drawings, they pulled his number, and his door prize, nearly equal to what I won, was a JEGS hat and a bottle of Meguiar's Detailer...just what I needed!
We bought tickets for the $1000 raffle (didn't win), the Money Hat (didn't win), and even the MegaMillions lottery (didn't win that, either).
The awards were presented...I received the Long Distance award, and Packard Bill received the Under Construction award for his Packard. Obviously, they never read the "It IS Finished, *%#*#!" slogan on the back bumper!
Anyway, a great show, and highly recommended. But it was all downhill from there!
The girls came back from downtown, and we made dinner plans...BBQ, of course. But then we had to try and find the restaurant. We drove east, never saw it, called, and were told that "it's just a block from Circuit City." After driving several miles, we made a U-turn, thinking that we must have already passed it.
Wrong, and to make a long story short, we ended up waiting in line for a half-hour at Cracker Barrel, only to find out we made our U-turn just three blocks before the BBQ place! Oh well, tomorrow has got to be better! |
