When the Old Guys plan to attend an event, our timing is most important, since everyone is coming from a different part of the state. The trip to Savannah was no exception, and except for Sonny's decision to take the scenic route through northeast Jacksonville, we pretty much arrived at the Cracker Barrel at the same time! After dinner, we headed straight for Savannah, and in a move not typical of the Old Guys , arrived at the hotel, and did nothing more than unload the cars. Saturday AM, the Old Gals got up early, drove to downtown Savannah, and personally made lunch reservations (they can only be made in person) at Paula Deen's restaurant. While we waited, the Old Guys did a little car cleaning and maintenance. Later, we all got together, checked out some of the shops along the river, had lunch, and then the girls felt the need to shop some more. The Old Guys, in their own cars, headed back to the hotel. We talked about the Dixieland Cruisers Poker Run and Low Country Boil, and decided, after the monstrous lunch we enjoyed, there was no room for any more food! So here we are. It's about 6:30 PM, and most of those attending the show have headed out for the poker run. We'll surely spend the evening in the parking lot, with the rest of those who've decided to stay behind. And at 8:00 tomorrow morning, we'll be heading over to the show. We've already taken some great photos, and there will be many more taken tomorrow. Look for them to be posted in the album sometime early next week. Sonny, Cecil, Packard Bill, and I, along with the significant others (for the first time in a long time, they're ALL with us!), say hi! |
