Billetproof Welcome Party
We found out about the party through the Rat Rod underground a couple weeks ago, and since we were planning to be in Ocala for the Saturday show anyway, made plans to attend.

So at about six o'clock this evening, we headed for Nowhere, which is the name of the bar where the party was being held (she asks, "where have you been?", and he says, "Nowhere"). We got there an hour early, and the parking lot was nearly full!

With more than 100 cars in attendance, my '70 Cougar was the newest car on the show field. Didn't matter...those guys like ANYTHING with four wheels!

There was dinner...a BBQ'ed quarter-chicken, with baked beans, cole slaw, pasta salad, and corn on the cob...for which we happily paid $4 each! Actually, Packard Bill graciously picked up the entire tab.

There were cocktails...generously mixed, and the price was about as low as we've ever seen...our three drinks were just over $10 total!

And there were cars! Lots of cars...pre-1964 classics, and tons of rat rods! And with the exception of a couple, they were all cars we've never seen...they were ALL very cool! And when the photo album is posted, we're sure you'll agree!

Even better were the people! In general, car people are great folks, but these guys (and ladies) were the friendliest bunch of people we've ever encountered!

We stayed for a couple hours, enjoyed the dinner, the cars, the people, and the cocktails, and then headed back to the hotel.

We met in the hotel's lounge, and had just one more. We made the usual cocktail-hour calls to Mikey and Boss Hog, and since they're both blanketed in snow up in Michigan, we made a point of rubbing it in!

We're calling it a night rather early, so we can be up early, awaiting Steve's arrival with the Strall's Automotive (Packard Bill and Son) rat rod debut.

We plan to have an early morning breakfast at Waffle House (no more breakfasts at the Quality Inn after the last time...over an hour to be served!), and then it's off to the Don Garlits Museum for the show.

Check back tomorrow evening for an update.
