Hot Rod Power Tour - Day One
Yesterday, three of the Old Guys gathered in Jacksonville, and spent the night at Chez Dolezel. After a couple hours cleaning Love Bugs from the cars, we had lunch and dinner combined, then it was off to Turffles for dessert. If you don't know about Truffles, just ask. The fourth Old Guy spent the night in Ormond Beach...go figure.

Today, we headed north. Cecil managed to meet us on time...about 4:45 AM!

Breakfast at the Cracker Barrel, of course, and Sonny messed with the cause of his stereo gremlin...the same one I had a couple years ago!

We stopped at Holman and Moody in Charlotte, and you've gotta see the pics to do it justice! Lee Holman gave us a tour of the facility, some of the GT40 racing background, and then showed us his 1964 Fairlane Trans Am car...don't confuse it with a Thunderbolt...this one's made for beating Enzo Ferrari's, and it DOES!

After a couple hours there, we headed north again, only to find a major interstate traffic backup! Getting off the interstate was the solution, and after a fuel stop, we returned to clear sailing.

So we're stting in Mt. Airy, about a mile from Floyd's Barber Shop, and it's time for dinner. Afterwards, it'll be cocktail hour(s), and maybe we'll end up spending the night with Otis in the Mayberry Lock Up!

Five hundred-plus miles for the Old Guys today. Tomorrow will be about a hundred less.
